I too have problems running intalio as a service. I'm using (EE) 6.0.0.036.
Have changed wrapper.conf (I believe as per the wiki), but no such luck.
I was able before to run intalio manually when logged on as a normal user, but after having tried to install as a service (with the bat files from \service\bin) while logged on as Admin, I cannot even start the manual version anymore.

Error messages in BPMS.log (abbreviated for clarity):
--
Bitronix: cannot get this JVM unique ID. Make sure it is configured and you only use ASCII characters. Will use IP address instead (unsafe for production usage!).
Catalina: Failed to register in JMX: javax.naming.NamingException: no resource registered with uniqueName 'jdbc/BPMSDB', available resources: []
Tempo: Error while loading Spring context file: file:${org.intalio.tempo.configDirectory}/tempo-tms.xml
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unable to initialize bean 'tms.serviceImplementation'
[stack trace]
[repeat several times, seemingly identical messages]
--

Any help is most appreciated!

PS: after noticing it did not work I replaced all files in the server directory with a working copy (working as manual, not as service) to ascertain no files were corrupted (i.e. missing a database/datasource file). Unfortunately, also after copying the original copy worked manually and the new copy worked in neither of the startup options.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

There shouldn't be any need for a manually configured wrapper as Server 6 is based on Tomcat. This is how it is done with Tomcat:
http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/windows-service-howto.html

In addition, there is already a fresh topic for service startup problems.
http://community.intalio.com/forums/intalio-bpp-6.0-beta/cannot-run-server-as-windows-service/view-2.html

If you have any further problems, it would be good, in my opinion, to have similar problems in same thread.

Regards,
Petri

Hi Petri,

I chose to abandon the tomcat windows service howto immediately as the first header of the document is a notice stating it is obsolete ;)
Also, I saw that post as well, but chose to open a separate topic as that topic too refers to the link you mentioned. I however chose the path of the Intalio wrapper (nothing self made, shipped with the enterprise edition) as per the instructions on http://wiki.intalio.com/Windows_Service

Well, that's all I have. In addition, those instructions were enough to make our another Tomcat 5.5 based server run.

I cannot log in to view that page, probably because I am not a "subscription user". Thus, no wiki for me.

Anyway, now that you said the magic word "wrapper", I could try to make the service work on my own. It required hard work to make Server 5.2 run as a service without instructions, let's see what happens this time.

Thanks,
Petri

Chris,

if you run the EE, you should ask questions on the support system to get help quickly.

Petri, if you'd like to have access to the wiki, you can contact We'd be happy to make business with you. Thanks for the help on this thread.

Thanks,

Antoine
